THANK YOU FOR COMING - TOLERANCE AND MADE IN AMERICA

In late 2019, my studio, DMJStudio, which focuses on exhibits and art experiences from the perspective of a woman, person of color, urban dweller, and global citizen, was introduced to the Tolerance Poster Exhibition by Olga Severina of Poster Territory. We were eager to bring this exhibit to Detroit, one of the only UNESCO Cities of Design in the U.S., but our plans were paused by the pandemic. Despite the challenges of COVID-19, our passion for the project remained strong. In 2024, in collaboration with Detroit Design Core and during Detroit Design Month, we were able to bring Tolerance to life in Detroit. This exhibit feels especially relevant today, as global shifts and societal changes highlight the need for greater understanding and empathy.

At a time when tolerance is key to moving forward, this exhibition, running from September 22 to October 15 at Andy Arts Center, seeks to foster connection and shared humanity in our local community.
