Color of Sci-Fi
The Color of Sci-Fi is a series celebrating and uplifting the genre of Sci-Fi and the people of color who create and enjoy it. Located in Detroit, this series includes art exhibitions, author talks, and panel discussions on the power and importance of representation in science fiction and STEM fields and its impact on our city and society.
The inaugural Color of Sci-Fi events occurred in October - November of 2023 at Detroit Public Library. This year (2024) we will continue with this project with a focus on two of our favorite science fiction characters, Captain Benjamin Sisko (Avery Brooks) and Lieutenant Nyota Uhura (Nichelle Nichols) of the international known series Star Trek.
