Poster Series Weekend of March 27

This weekend was wonderful. The weather has been great in Houston. If it could stay like this most of the year I would be very happy, but to appreciate this weather we have to go through things like 100 degree weather and humidity.

Last week I worked on the sketches that will be used for a series of posters I am developing. I’ve drawn eight and completely inked three. Here is my first attempts to make posters.

In last week’s post I shared my fear that when I use my sketches for posters, one or two things happen – the organic feel of my drawings vanish or the outcome is just horrible. I think that this time, I am going in the right direction. I am not a wacom genius, but I do sketch well, so I think sketching and inking first, then scanning in my inked drawing works better for me then scanning in a pencil sketch and trying to ink it digitally.

My next step is for me to create backgrounds for my drawings as well as poetry. You may see additional in this series. I am an Illustrator girl, so I created these in Illustrator, but I think I could have created the same or better outcome with Photoshop. Next time around, I will do at least one layout/design in Photoshop.

I love creating posters. I think it is a great artform the works in visual art and digital art.  Until next weekend.
